"The Orphan of Eisenach" - a tribute to J. S. Bach
I heard a lot of Bach when I was growing up - both in church (my parents were both devout Lutherans), and from the radio on my Dad’s desk, which was always tuuned in to the onr of the local Washington/Baltimore classical FM stations as he studied for his Ph.D. not far from my bed as I fell asleep each night.
Bach was born in Eisenach in the very center of Germany at the end of March in 1685, and was orphaned at the age of ten.
